Abstract
1277278 Straightening VSESOJUZNY NAUCHNO - ISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTRUMENTALNY INSTITUT 16 Dec 1969 61165/69 Heading B3E A device for straightening articles shaped as bodies of revolution comprises at least two sets of straightening rolls, the rolls of each set being arranged with their axes mutually parallel and equidistant from a central axis, each roll of a set being rotatably mounted on a lever connected to an independent drive to effect synchronous movement of the rolls of a set, towards or away from said central axis and driving means for rotating at least one set of rolls. In an embodiment a housing 1 accommodates straightening rolls 5, 6 and 7 each mounted on spring-loaded pivoted levers 2, 3 and 4 respectively. The rolls are driven by a motor 8 through a belt drive and gearing (Fig. 2, not shown). Synchronous convergence of the rolls on to the workpiece 29 is effected by cams 19, 20 and 21 and cam followers 16, 17 and 18 attached to the levers 2, 3 and 4. The cams are secured to a toothed ring 22 rotated by an hydraulic cylinder 26 by means of a rack 27. For straightening a stepped workpiece a plurality of roll housing are used. For straightening a taper-shank drill an additional housing having three frusto-conical straightening rolls is added to the housing 1 (Fig. 2, not shown). The workpiece is cooled by air or liquid during the straightening. In another embodiment (Fig. 3) the straightening rolls are mounted on doublearm levers 36, 37 and 38. The lever 36 has a pivot A to which rods 39 and 40 are attached the other ends of the rods being pivoted to the other levers 37 and 38. The lever 36 is spring-loaded and actuated by an hydraulic cylinder 43.
