Abstract

1,221,378. Swaging. FERTINGUNGSTECHNIK UND MASCHINENBAU G.m.b.H. GES FUR. 6 June, 1969 [25 June, 1968], No. 28671/69. Heading B3H. Apparatus for continuous swaging of continuous workpieces comprises at least two swaging units A-F each having a pair of dies 1 moved by eccentric shafts 2 through pivoted guides 3 and. the speed of the shafts increases in the feed direction so that the blow frequency of the dies increases. The units are preferably arranged in pairs with their dies offset by 90 degrees and the shafts of each pair driven at the same speed. The shafts are driven from a pair of synchronized motors 5 through straight drive units 7 and bevel gear units 8. The units are preferably arranged to blow one at a time. The stroke of the dies may be varied by rotating the upper shaft housing 9. The housing is urged against a stop by an hydraulic motor (10), (11), Fig. 4 (not shown), which also acts as an overload device. The units feed the workpiece at the same speed by varying either one or both the eccentricity of the shafts and the leverage of the dies. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,167,060.
