Abstract

1,206,490. Vibrators. L. MUELLER. 1 July, 1968 [22 July, 1967], No. 31414/68. Heading F2X. A vibrator has four synchronously driven shafts 2, (3); 4, (5) arranged in pairs and each having eccentric weights mounted thereon. Shafts 2 and (3) and shafts 4 and (5) are connected by gears (9a), (9b) respectively, while the shafts 2, 4 are drivingly interconnected by toothed pulleys 16, 14 and belt 15. The pulley 16 is fast on shaft 4 while the pulley 14 is connected to shaft 2 by a member 12 fast on the shaft and angularly movable in a recess 22 of the pulley between stops 13, 18. In starting shaft 2 is driven by a first motor and the member 12 abuts stop 13 so that the eccentric weights on the shafts 2, (3) and 4, (5) are opposed and do not produce vibrations. When the machine has assumed its running speed, the first motor is stopped and shaft 4 is driven by a second motor. Member 12 then abuts stop 18 to drive the weights in aligned position to produce vibrations. Catch 19 enters pulley recess 21 under centrifugal force or pneumatic, hydraulic or electric means to positively connect the shafts 2 and 4. The first motor may then also be used to drive the vibrator.
