Abstract
1439455 Vibratory pile driver and extractor INDUSTRY SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 17 July 1973 [4 May 1972] 20844/72 Heading E1H [Also in Division F2] A vibratory pile driver/extractor comprises a frame 10 supporting four rotatable shafts 12, 14, 16, 18 on which are eccentrically mounted weights 22, 26, 30, 34, each pair of similar sized weights being constrained to rotate in opposite senses at the same speed by gear wheels 20, 24 and 28, 32, the relative rotational speeds of the different pairs of weights and their relative phases being such that an asymmetric vibrational force is generated. As shown, this force will be greater in the direction of arrow 52. Drive is transmitted from gear wheel 20 to gear wheel 28 by a pair of gear wheels 38, (40) Fig. 1 (not shown) connected by a simple dog clutch which may be disengaged so that the weights 30, 34 may be moved to positions 30A, 34A. This will reverse the direction of the greater force. In another clutch arrangement Figs. 4A, B, C (not shown) the gear wheels 38, 40 are the same size as gear wheels 28, 32 and the clutch permits the phase between gear wheels 38 and 40 to be changed by 180‹.
