Abstract

597,615. Mixing-machines. WINGET, Ltd., and DICKSON, G. Aug. 23, 1945, No. 21657. [Class 86] A concrete-mixing machine comprises at least two separate mixing drums, each rotatable about its own axis and having one end open, the drums being interconnected to form a revolvable assembly which may be turned so that when one drum is in its filling position the other or another drum is in its discharge position. Three drums 6, 7, 8, Fig. 1, mutually inclined at 120 degrees, are each rotatably supported by ball bearings 9, Fig. 2, about a stub shaft 10 secured to a trunnion shaft 1. Each drum carries a bevel gear 17 and is rotatable by a bevel-wheel 18 driven by an internal-combustion engine 25 through a chain and sprockets 23, 24 and pinion gearing 21, 20. The drum assembly is revolvable about the axis of the trunnion shaft 1 by a hand wheel 16 which operates a worm 14 engaging with a worm-wheel 13 on the shaft 1. When each drum is in its lowest position, it discharges its contents on to a belt oonveyer 26. The power unit used for rotating the drums may also be employed to revolve the drum assembly.
