Continuous-discharge apparatus with stationary containers.-A rotary cylinder for roasting, mixing, or otherwise treating materials is provided with one series of blades or vanes 9<a> carried by the cylinder 5 for feeding the material forward, and another series 9b mounted on a shaft 7 within the cylinder effecting a reversal or checking of the movement of the material. The speed of rotation of the drum and shaft may be varied to modify the movement of the material.
