Abstract

798,085. Mixing-machines. GARDNER & SONS (GLOUCESTER), Ltd., W. Sept. 29, 1954 [Nov. 30, 1953], No. 33126/53. Class 86 In a double cone mixing machine 10 which, during the mixing operation, rotates about a horizontal axis c at right angles to the axes of the cones 11, 12, a deflector plate 14 extends substantially across the drum at an angle of about 45 degrees to the axis of rotation c. The width of the plate 14 is less than the axial length of a central cylindrical portion 13 of the drum. The drum may be mounted on trunnions 15, 16 or a shaft which passes through the drum and an aperture in the plate 14. An electric motor 23 drives the drum through gearing in a gear case 24. The plate 14 may be in two separate parts or it may comprise a sinuous vane.
