1333044 Impact pulverizers ALFRED HERBERT Ltd 6 Nov 1970 [12 Nov 1969 55389/69 Heading B2A An impact pulverizer includes a rotatable classifier 20 comprising a plurality of arms 22 driven by an independent shaft 23 which has variable-speed drive 24, 25. This may include a variable-speed motor 24. The mill which is of a known type comprises a main drive shaft mounted in a bearing 14 and supporting a rotor disc 15. On one side of the disc are hammers 16 and on the other side two rows of pegs 18 cooperating with two rows of fixed pegs 18a. The fineness of powder delivered at an outlet 12 is varied by adjustment of the classifier speed. Material is drawn through the mill either by a separate fan or an internal fan mounted concentrically with the shaft 23 between the classifier 20 and the outlet 12. In the latter case the fan may be driven from the shaft 23, directly or with gearing, or be driven by a separate variable-speed drive.
