Abstract

1,261,709. Hammer mills. N. PORA. 15 July, 1969 [17 July, 1968], No. 34052/68. Heading B2A. A two-stage hammer mill comprises a shaft 12, Fig. 1, bearing a first stage rotor 20 having blades 23, 24 and a second stage rotor bearing blades 34, 35, a blower fan with blades 33 mounted on the second stage rotor and a partition 14 between the output of the first stage and the input of the second. The hammer blades, Fig. 4, are alternately long and short with toothed ends and are surrounded by screens 27, 37. The air intake is controlled by a damper 17. A second embodiment for grinding a heavier product employs a dished partition (41) Fig. 5, not shown, an additional air inlet (43), and a further embodiment for even heavier product has a modified screen 27, Fig. 6, and partitions 50, 53 completely enclosing the first and second stages respectively as well as a secondary air intake 52 and bottom outlet 18.
