Abstract

907,655. Air curtains. CENTRIFLO PTY. Ltd. Dec. 23, 1960 [Dec. 19, 1959; March 16, 1960], No. 44327/60. Class 137. Air curtain creating apparatus comprises an electric motor 7, situated between and driving two suction fans 16, drawing in air through inlets 14 and forming an air curtain in front of an opening, such as a doorway, via outlet port 10 in the part cylindrical casing 1. The shaft 8 of the motor 7 and fans 16 are eccentrically mounted to the axis of the part cylindrical casing 1 so as to form a part crescent like chamber 20 (or volute) between each fan 16 and the casing 1, with the outlet port 10 formed at the major width of the chamber 20. Bracket 12 is used to reduce the circulation of air around the chamber. In Fig. 4 (not shown) the electric motor 7 is mounted on brackets 9 fixed to the base plate 5. Fig. 5 (not shown) shows angularly adjustable vanes in spaced relationship near each end of the outlet port 10, to deflect the air curtain to a greater width than the outlet port width if necessary.
