Abstract

1400550 Air conditioning units HITACHI Ltd 3 Oct 1972 [18 Feb 1972] 45640/72 Headings F1C and C2B3B An air conditioning unit comprises a housing 11 having an air inlet 11a and air discharge openings 11b, 11c on the side surfaces. Air is drawn through the unit over a condenser 17 by a centrifugal fan 12. The casing 13 around the fan 12 comprises a ring 13a formed with an inlet port 13e, a back plate 13b and a pair of spiral segments 13c, 13d arranged to form outlet ports 13g, 13h. A compressor 16, which forms a cooling system with the condenser 17, is housed in a shielded chamber 14 formed by the back plate 13b of the fan casing and the housing. The compressor 16 is cooled by air drawn into the chamber 14 through an inlet hole 11d by the fan 2. In another embodiment Fig. 6, (not shown) a first, dual intake blower as above circulates outside air over a condenser and a second single intake blower driven by the same motor circulates room air over an evaporator of the cooling system.
