Abstract

1,084,663. Refrigerating. TRANE CO. Feb. 15, 1966 [June 16, 1965], No. 6583/66. Heading F4H. In an absorption refrigeration system of the type employing lithium bromide solution and water as absorbent and refrigerant respectively, the refrigerant and the intermediate and weak solutions are circulated by three centrifugal impellers mounted on a common shaft in a pump housing 43. Refrigerant for cooling and lubricating the pump motor 44, the pump shaft bearings and the motor shaft bearings is obtained from the discharge chamber 75 of the refrigerant-insulating impeller through lines 99, 101, 108 and 109 and is returned to the inlet chamber 74 of that impeller through lines 106, 111 and 107. Alternatively the motor and bearings may be supplied with mains water supplied and returned through valves 114 and 115 respectively, in which case valves 112 and 113 in lines 99 and 107 respectively are closed.
