[Class 110 (i)] Liquid being pumped is used to cool fluid passed through a heat-exchanger 8 interposed. between the stages 1, 2 of a multi-stage pump or placed at one side of a single stage pump. Stationary vanes on the outer surfaces of the exchanger 8 cause a flow of liquid through the spaces between the exchanger and the impeller walls.
