Abstract

953,197. Axial-flow fans. SIEMENSSCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. Nov. 29, 1960 [Nov. 30, 1959], No. 41064/60. Heading F1C. [Also in Division F4] A fan casing comprises two identical parts which, when the fan is located in a panel, project to the same extent from each side of the panel. As shown, an impeller having a motor 1 and fan blades 2 is mounted by a spider 3, 4, 5, 6 in a frame 7 which is secured in an aperture in a panel 44, e.g. a window pane, and which is enclosed by a casing having identical parts 8 and 9 push fitted on the frame 7. The parts 8 and 9 are provided with louvres 15 and a roller blind 10 operated by a cord 16 is arranged to slide over the louvres on the inlet side of the fan, the cord 16 being also arranged to operate the fan by means of a switch 17. The casing is of circular cross-section and the part 9 is turned through 180 degrees relative to part 8. In a modification (Figs. 3 and 4, not shown) the casing is of rectangular cross-section and the roller blind is mounted on the outlet side of the fan, the frame in this case comprising two relatively displaceable parts for accommodating varying thicknesses of panel.
