Abstract
544,299. Concrete mixers. TRIGGS, W. W. (Chain Belt Co.) May 9, 1941, No. 6047. [Class 86] A machine for mixing and transporting concrete comprises a conical, bladed drum mounted on an inclined axis and rotated in the same direction both for mixing and discharge, the upper open end of the drum being fitted with a hopper which prevents escape of the materials during mixing and is moved away from the drum mouth to allow discharge; the hopper may serve to charge the drum. The drum 11, Fig. 1, fitted with helical blades 16, rotates about an axis inclined at 10-20 degrees on a frame carried by a chassis. The hopper 17 is fitted with a sleeve 19 bearing on a shaft 18 carried by the drum and is connected by a bearing 48 fitted with a seal 52 with a conical member 47 bearing against the end of the drum. The hopper is moved to allow the drum to be discharged by arms 23, Fig. 2, connected to trunnions 21 thereon by telescopic links 22, the arms being operated from a hand wheel 31 by worm gear 28, 30 and a crank 27 engaging arms 25 mounted on the same shaft 24 as the arms 23 ; the hopper is provided with an internal lip 57. The mixed concrete falls down a shoot 61. Water is supplied by a pipe 63 and the direction of rotation is such that the blades 16 feed upwards. U.S.A.
