Abstract

1,232,905. Tenderising meat. H. J. FALBORG. 25 Aug., 1969, No. 42210/69. Heading A2U. Pieces of meat are tenderised by tumbling them in a rotating drum 1 comprising a cylindrical casing 2 resting on rollers 21, end walls 8, 10 provided with discharge and feed openings 3, 4, respectively, and internal ribs 36-42, of various lengths to suit different sizes of the pieces of meat, some of the ribs having inclined portions whereby the meat pieces are progressed from the feed end of the drum to the discharge end. The meat pieces are fed in as a batch via a hopper 5, are tumbled for a set period by a drive applied to annular rings 19 on the drum by driving bands 28, 29 driven from a shaft 32, and are then discharged either by inserting a shoot, secured to a wheeled carriage, into the opening 3, or by tilting the drum about pivot 25 of a frame carrying the rollers 21, or by a combination of both methods.
