Abstract
<PICT:0777869/III/1> A rotating drum 1 for granulating carbon black &c. has mounted concentrically within it a wire basket 12 which is of slightly smaller diameter and is rotated at a greater or smaller speed than the drum to prevent a deposit forming on the walls of the drum. The basket is mounted on a shaft 11, and has a conveyer 19 on its inside wall. Powdered material is fed into the drum 1 by a worm conveyer 6, is conveyed through the drum by the conveyer 19, and the pellets formed during transition are expelled through slot 7. The wire basket may be positively driven or not and in the latter event the necessary rotation is obtained by friction with the deposit on the drum walls.
