Abstract

1284857 Processing radioactive waste KRAFTWERK UNION AG 19 April 1971 [18 March 1970] 24466/71 Heading G6R Particulate waste material is mixed with a particulate heat softenable material, the mixture is heated so that the heat softenable material binds the waste material, and is then cooled to a solid coherent mass. Particulate bitumen may be mixed with particulate radio-active waste and heated to below 140‹ C. Suitable apparatus is described comprising (Fig. 1, not shown) a heatable worm compactor and conveyer; and (Fig. 2, not shown) a mixer arranged above a heatable container.
