Abstract

158,402. Owen, J. W. Nov. 12, 1919. Stationary batch-mixers with rotary stirrers; rotary batch-mixers-A cylindrical container a of a kneading-machine for dough &c. is fitted with two sets of coaxial mixing bars b<1>, c<1>, carried on arms b, c, respectively. The arm c carries a bar c<1> at one end, as shown, or may carry bars at both ends. The bar c<1> acts as a scraper against the inner surface of the cylinder, and is of triangular section as shown in Fig. 3. The bars b<1> act near the bars c<l>, and are of lozenge-shaped section. The mixing-bars are connected to axes b<2>, d actuated through gearing such as is shown in Fig. 4, so that the bans b<l> move faster than the bar c<1>. The outer edges of the bars b<1>, c<1> are slightly curved. The cylinder may be stationary or may be revolved by a pulley i engaging a friction ring i<1> on the end of the cylinder.
