Stationary batch-mixers with rotary stirrers.- Relates to mixing-apparatus for boiling-pans in which scrapers and stirrers are carried on coaxial shafts, and are so mounted that they can be withdrawn from the pan. According to the present invention, the scrapers and stirrers are carried on a rotary head so that they can be lifted from one pan and lowered into another. Fig. 1 shows an apparatus with two pans A, A<1>, but several may be employed if desired. The stirrers d<1> and scrapers d are carried respectively on coaxial shafts D<1>, D supported by an arm C rotatably mounted on a column B. The shafts D<1>, D are driven through bevel gearing, as shown, by a main shaft L' carrying pulleys K, K<1>. The stirrers and scrapers are connected to a head E sliding on rods c, c<1> and counter-balanced by a weight e<2>. The head E may be locked in its raised position and the arm C is then swung round to bring the stirrers &c. over the trough A<1>, into which they are lowered when required.
