Abstract

188,602. Read, W. H., (Read Machinery Co., Inc.). Feb. 14, 1922. Rotary b a t c h - mixers.-In mixing machine for flour, dough, &c. of the kind comprising a rotary head having a beater spindle eccentrically mounted therein, and gearing for rotating the spindle about its own axis when the head is rotated, the head and spindle are carried by a platform supported on uprights arranged to carry a vertically adjustable ring in which a mixing vessel can be held. The head a carrying the spindle c is mounted in a bearing f in the platform g and is rotated by means of bevel two-speed gearing r<3>, q<3> from gears q, r which can be clutched to a shaft o driven from an electric motor mounted on the platform; the spindle is provided with a pinion d meshing with a fixed internally-toothed wheel e. The platform is carried by a pair of uprights h adjustable in their sockets j. The mixing bowl 4 is carried in a ring 3 pivoted about one of the uprights by means of a sleeve 2 and fitted with a hole engaging a guide pin on the other. The ring can be raised and lowered by means of a cam 8 and in its lower position is freed from the guide pin when it can be swung to permit the bowl to be removed. A mincer 12 may be mounted on the platform and driven by means of a square connection 13.
