Class 86 A dough mixer has a large cylindrical open top container 11 transportable on wheels 14 and having a centre port 13. into which depend detachable beaters 22. 23 fixed on a rotatable shaft 24 which also moves in a circular path about the axis of the bowl. The bowl is supported in the mixing position by a lifting mechanism as at 15. The mixer head and its driving motor are carried on baseplates 17, 18 vertically slidable on posts 16. The mixer head 20 has a stationary central portion 44 in which is journalled the main driving shaft 43 which rotates the agitator shaft 24 through gears 100. 98. The agitator shaft 24 has a gear 103 which engages with a sun gear 65 through an intermediate gear train 104, 110, Fig. 5 (not shown), whereby the agitator shaft together with the heavy bell-shaped housing 66 which acts as a shock-absorbing member is carried round the central stationary member 44. A lubrication system for the mixer head is described in detail.
