Abstract

861,915. Mixing appliances. KENWOOD MANUFACTURING CO. Ltd. July 2, 1959 [July 2. 1958]. No. 21209/58. Class 86 In a domestic mixing machine of the type in which a beater 5 operating within a bowl 2 supported by a base 1 is carried on a pillar 3 and a cantilever arm 4, the primary drive from the motor 6 is by a belt 9 to a pulley 10 rotatably mounted on the intermediate shaft 11 which is vertically slidable in bearings 11, 28. A button 32 in the removable cap 30, 31 engages the upper end of shaft 11 and maintains it in the depressed position, in which dog clutch members 25. 26 transmit the beater drive from the pulley 10 to the shaft 11. When the cap 30, 31 is removed to enable an auxiliary device to be connected to the power take-off 29, shaft 11 is urged upwards by spring 27 disengaging the dog clutch and thus disconnecting the beater device.
