Abstract

647,838. Belt gearing. POESCHL, R., and POESCHL, W. Dec. 31,1947, Nos. 35171 and 35172. Convention dates, Nov. 4, 1946 and Nov. 29, 1946. [Class 80(i) ] [Also in Group XXXV] A machine pivotally supported for using the reaction torque for adjustment of the belt tension has a member partly enclosing the belt so arranged as to permit adjustment of the distance between the rocking and machine axes. In Fig. 1 the pulley cover 8 is adjustably secured to the motor body and has a series of holes (not shown) in its outer end for the pivot 3 and a corresponding plate assembly is arranged for the pivot at the other end of the machine. In Fig. 8 the motor housing is closed by discs 20 having a plurality of openings 29 so that the pivot 25 may be adjusted. The belt opening 23 may have rounded edges or rollers to prevent chafing.
