Class 86 In a mixing machine of the kind comprising a base housing an electric motor and presenting an upper seat for removably receiving a jar or container provided with rotary blades at its bottom interior mounted on a shaft engageable with the electric motor shaft, the electric motor 16 constitutes the primary supporting element for the machine, and is enclosed by upper and lower shell portions 12, 14 which may be moulded from synthetic resin and are secured to the motor 16 at its upper and lower portions. At the upper portion an annular bracket 18 is secured to the motor 16 by rivets 70 and has a central threaded shank 22 which extends through a central hole 23 in the shell 12 and receives a nut 26 and washer 28 for securing the shell 12 to the bracket. Rigid fingers 72 are formed integrally with the annular bracket 18 and receive jar seat and retaining members 78 which project through apertures 56 in the shell 12. At the lower portion an annular bracket 20 is secured to the motor by rivets 90 and has a central threaded shank 24 which receives a nut 26 and washer 30 for securing the shell 14 on the shank 24. The lower end wall of the shell 14 has apertures 36 which permit exhaust of cooling air. The shell 14 has legs 42 which are bored to receive foot pads 46 formed of rubber or other resilient friction material. The lower shell 14 extends into the upper shell 12 and is formed to receive several resilient bumper elements 50 for cushion contact with the upper shell 12. The annular space between the shells 12 and 14 serves as an inlet for cooling air.
