Abstract
695,984. Gob stowers. EICKHOFF MASCHINENFABRIK UND EISENGIESSEREI GEB. Feb. 16, 1951 [Feb. 17, 1950], No. 3770/51. Class 85 [Also in Group XXX] A gob stowing machine comprises a carriage resting on the bottom of a mineworking on opposite sides of a conveyer and a centrifugal throwing machine, having a rotor provided with paddles which, together with its power driving means, is mounted on the carriage with the rotor axis in the longitudinal direction of and located substantially in the longitudinal central plane of the conveyer, the rotor being housed in a casing having a discharge outlet for gobbing material and being movable about the axis of the rotor so that the level of the outlet may be adjusted. In one form, Fig. 1, a carriage 2 having runners 3 straddles a shaker coriveyer 1 and carries a centrifugal throwing machine driven through a gear box 4 from a motor 5 via spur and belt gearing 11, 21, 22, 23, 24. The material is deflected from the conveyer into the thrower by a ramp 16 pivoted at 15 to the casing 7. The rotor casing 7 is rotatably carried by a sleeve 6 on the shaft of the rotor 12 and the casing rotated, by a hand-driven worm wheel 9 engaging on a segment 8. to vary the angular position of the material outlet. The rotor casing is built up of plates in the form of staves, the discharge opening taking the place of one of them so that the position of the opening relative to the casing may be varied. In another form, Fig. 3, the material is carried by a belt conveyer 25 which runs above the machine and is deflected by a guide 27 into a hopper 28 from which it enters the rotorcasing.
