Abstract

274,602. Fisher, Humphries, & Co., Ltd., and Hutchinson, H. M. May 20, 1926. Shoots. - Relates to hoppers, grain elevators, and like storage devices and particularly to a hopper for dealing with pulverulent materials such as crushed clinker for asphalt making. A reciprocating agitating-device in the hopper operates in conjunction with a rotary vaned member disposed adjacent the hopper outlet, the vaned member discharging the material into a shoot whence it may be directed to a conveyer, &c. The outlet 4a of the hopper 4 is adjusted by means of a pair of plates 5 slidable in guides 6, and a rotary spindle 7 mounted in bearings carried by a housing 8 disposed below the outlet carries a number of radially-disposed vanes 7<a> which are slightly longer than the opening 4a and at their ends abut discs 7<b> on the spindle. The spindle 7 is driven through worm gearing 9, 10 from a .driving-shaft 11. The agitators 15<a> are carried by a pair of rods 15 the upper ends of which pass through guides 16 on cross-members .17 and are pivoted to rods 18 depending from straps 19 which co-operate with oppositely-arranged eccentrics 20 on a shaft 21. The housing 8 is continued as a shoot 8<a> the mouth of which is secured to a housing 13 enclosing a bucket elevator 14.
