Abstract

910,593. Gearing for conveying rotary motion. BLACKSTONE & CO. Ltd. Feb. 9, 1959 [Feb 14, 1958], No. 4971/58. Class 80 (1). [Also in Group XXX] To permit rotation of a driven drum 2 about a transverse vertical axis AA whilst still maintaining a drive connection to the drum, the drum is driven through a bevel pinion 8 on a countershaft 9 which remains parallel with the driven drum 2 as the latter is turned about the axis AA, whereby the bevel pinion rolls on a driving bevel gear 4, maintaining drive connection therewith. A chain or belt reduction gear 10 connects the countershaft 9 to the drum 2 and bevel gear 4 is driven through an underlying bevel pinion 5, reduction gear 7 and a belt 6, by an electric motor or I.C. engine. A second drum 3 is driven through further bevel pinions 13, and chain or belt reduction gear 16, which permits the drum 3 to be turned about a parallel axis BB, also whilst still maintaining drive connection. The drums 2, 3 are part of an elevator conveyer as described in Specification 910,592.
