717,179. Belt and chain gearing. MORRISON, A., and MORRISON, A. Sept. 3, 1952 [Feb. 28, 1952], No. 5278/52. Class 80 (1) The larger pulley or sprocke 13 of a belt or chain reductior gear is mounted on a bracket 17 rotatably supported on the driver shaft 6 and is geared to said shaft by a pinion 12 and gear 7 or by chain and sprocket gearing. The belt or chain is automatically tensioned by the torque reaction through the gearing 12, 7 and the pulley or sprocket 13 is arranged in a plane beyond a supporting collar 20 for the bracket hub 18 so that the said pulley or sprocket 13 may be of a radius greater than the distance between the hub 18 and the axis of the pulley or sprocket.
