Abstract

775,363. Mixing-machines. KEMPER, K. April 26, 1955 [April 26, 1954], No. 12050/54. Class 86 [Also in Group XXXIV] In a mixing machine, a rotatable mixing bowl 40 and a rotatable mixing arm (not shown) are driven from an electric motor 18 and the drive to the bowl 40 incorporates reverse gearing so that the bowl may be driven in either direction. The drive from the motor 18 is transmitted to a shaft 24 through a belt 19 and a worm 21 and worm wheel 22. The shaft 24 carries at one end a chain sprocket 46 which transmits the drive to the mixing arm. and at 'the other end a bevel gear 38 which is in constant mesh with upper and lower bevel gears 29, 30 loosely mounted in a vertical bowl-carrying spindle 31. A dog clutch 36 sulined to the spindle 31 enables either of the gears 29, 30 to be clutched to the spindle by operation of a pedal 37. Alternatively the reverse gearing is incorporated in the drive to the mixing arm. In a modification a bowl 67, Fig. 3, is driven through belt and worm and worm wheel gearing by a reversible motor 64. A mixing arm 66 is driven through a similar gearing by a separate motor 65 which may also be reversible.
