Abstract

943,030. Chain gearing. H. &. B. PRECISION ENGINEERS Ltd. Sept. 13, 1961 [Oct. 24, 1960], No. 36451/60. Heading F2Q. An intermittent drive of an output member 12 is obtained by a chain 14 which is driven by a continuously rotating driving arm 10 and is tensioned by a spring-loaded jockey pulley 16. The drive is effective only during movement of the arm 10 from Y to Z in a clockwise direction. The arm 10 may carry two bosses 20, 22 mounted near the ends of the arm, the boss 22 having three teeth for engagement with the chain 14. In a modification, the boss 22 is replaced by a chain pinion 32, Fig. 3. Alternatively, the arm 10 may carry an elongated member 34, Fig. 4. In further modifications, the driving arm comprises a pear-shaped element 40, Fig. 6, and a semicircular element 46, Fig. 7, provided with teeth 48.
