Abstract

555,216. Conveyers. DUNCAN, A. W., and MINING ENGINEERING CO., Ltd Dec. 4, 1941, No. 15662. [Class 78 (i)] A unit for driving belt conveyers is constructed to be readily adapted for transmitting the drive to any part of the conveyer. The unit is built up of side plates 1 carrying two drums 2, 3 geared together, the shaft of drum 2 being driven through reduction gearing by'an electric or other motor. The plates 1 are connected together by cross beams 10, 11, 12, 13, and feet 19 are provided for supporting the unit. Brackets 17 support an idler roller 18, and a snub drum 14 is mounted in removable bearings to locate the off-take from drum 3. The drum 14 may be replaced by a spring- pressed mangle roller 22, Fig. 7, which shows the unit applied to a jib extension 24 carrying a jockey pulley 25 and a delivery drum 26.
