Abstract

1,002,312. Conveyers; chains &c. R. HORSFIELD & CO. Ltd., Oct. 29, 1963 [Aug. 2, 1962], No. 29693/62. Heading B8A. A conveyer belt b is driven by pairs of rollers 1 between which the belt is nipped. The pressure between each pair of rollers 1 may be adjusted by rotating a shaft 12. This acts through pins 9 on slots in respective members 7 which rotate eccentrically mounted housings for the bearings of the rollers 1. The top lefthand roller 1 (as viewed in Fig. 2) is driven through an idler 15 from the top right-hand roller. The latter is driven from a motor spindle 26 through reduction gears 17-25. The lower rollers are similarly driven. An outer casing 2 forms an oil bath at each end of the rollers 1. The belt is cleaned by a flexible scraper and also by a rotary brush cleaner geared to one of the rolls (Fig. 3, not shown).
