854,497. Endless belt conveyers. MITCHELL, F. G. March 14, 1957 [Dec. 15, 1955], No. 36069/55. Class 78 (1). In a belt conveyer in which the belt is supported over its work. ing run on idler roller assemblies, one or more of the idler rollers is driven by means of an internal motor 13. The motor 13-is-preferably provided in the horizontal roller 2 of an assembly and is secured at one end to a bracket 9 carrying a bearing 10 for endplate 6 of the roller. A gear-bar 14 is secured to the other end of the motor and its output shaft 15 is keyed to end-plate 7 of the roller which is provided with a hub portion journalled in a bearing 12 carried by a bracket 10. Outer rollers 3, 4 of the assembly are idler rollers journalled on fixed spindles 25 carried by brackets 16, 17, 18 and 19. The outer rollers may, however, be supported at their inner ends only. The outer rollers may also be driven from the roller 2 through universal joints, or may be driven by separate motors.
