Abstract

620,913. Endless-belt and roller-way conveyers. LEAK, W. H., and HURST, J. Jan. 31, 1947, No. 2995. [Class 78 (i)] - A roller for use in a roller-way conveyer or as an idler roller in a belt conveyer comprises a steel tube 1 supported at each end on a shaft 6 by ball or roller bearings 7 fitting within a housing 2 closed by a threaded cap 3, each bearing being fixed axially in position by a step 8 in its housing 2 and a flange 10 on its cap 3 engaging its outer race. Washers 16, 17 of felt or other material in openings 12, 13 in the housing 2 and cap 3 prevent escape of lubricant from the housing. The shaft is located axially relatively to the roller by spring rings 19 in grooves in the shaft adjacent the inner race of the left-hand bearing.
