Abstract

647,389. Endless-belt conveyers. TAYLOR, E. Oct. 21, 1948, No. 27353. [Class 78 (i)] An idler roller for a belt conveyer revolves on a fixed spindle 10 and is constructed by a tube barrel 1 secured to two ends 2 which have bosses and rims connected with conical webs, the bosses carrying ball bearings 4 held by a not quite complete ring 5 of half-round section and the bearing space being sealed by packing washers 7 and 8 retained by a spring clip 9 engaging a groove in the spindle 10. The tube barrel 1 is secured to end 2 by filling counter. sunk holes 3a in the ends with molten lead through alined holes 3 in the barrel. Lubricant is forced through nipple 12 into the bearing space passing through the gap in ring 5. Flats 11 on one end of the spindle prevent its rotation.
