Abstract

689,473. Hollow rollers. HUWOOD MINING MACHINERY, Ltd. Sept. 7, 1951 [June 7, 1950], No. 14248/50. Class 34 (i) [Also in Groups XXVI and XXX] A roller used for example for supporting a conveyer belt or as a belt or rope pulley is mounted by ball or roller bearings 5 on a stationary spindle 4 and is provided with an inner tube 8 filled with lubricating oil, the tube being sealed at 10 in spigots 3 on end caps 2. A packing member 11 of oil, grease and water resisting material is supported housed in a cupped metal washer 12 which fits with clearance around the spindle 4, the inner portion of the member 11 being held firmly on the spindle by a resilient coiledwire ring 13. Ingress of dirt, water and grit into the bearings 5 is prevented by thick lubricating grease retained in a cavity 15 by a washer 16 secured between rings 17, 18. Specification 500,130 is referred to.
