Abstract

1366865 Bearings SKF (UK) Ltd 18 Oct 1971 [16 July 1970] 34549/70 Heading F2A A thrust bearing comprises two annular thrust washers 10, an annular cage 11 fitted with rolling elements 14, and an internal sleeve 12 of resilient plastics extending through the cage and mounted as a close fit in the bores of the washers so as to centre them whilst still allowing relative rotation. The sleeve, which is preferably of nylon, is sized to be a close fit on a pivot pin, and may comprise resilient axial extensions 17 on one or both sides. The cage may be provided with spacing lugs 15. In a further embodiment, the sleeve has sealing lips which contact the rolling faces of the washers (Fig. 4, not shown), and is provided with two types of axial extension, one being thicker than the other.
