[Also in Group XIII] A rotary drum I for drying road-making materials is supported by steel rollers 5 engaging steel rims 2 provided on the drum and is frictionally driven by one or more driving-wheels 7 having pneumatic tyres engaging the drum or one or more rims 4 secured thereon. The driving-wheels 7 are fixed to a gear or sprocket driven shaft 8 mounted in bearings 9. The rims 4 may be covered with rubber or other material providing a high coefficient of friction with the pneumatic tyres.
