In a frame for stretching textile webs in which feeding chains run about sprockets 15, 16 mounted on tables 11, 12 pivoted at 13,14 and supported on pairs of rollers 17, 18 and 19, 20 at their free ends, the drive for pivoting the tables is via at least one of the rollers 17,18, 19, 20. In Fig. 2 the drive for table 11 is provided by a motor 25 through roller 18 whereas the drive for table 12 is effected by a motor 26 through both its supporting rollers 19, 20. The motors 25, 26 are reversible and are controlled by a photo-electric control system 31; the motors may be mounted beneath the tables (as shown) or on the stationary frame, in which case drive is taken to the rollers via flexible shafts. Instead of using reversible motors, constantly rotating motors in series with reversible magnetic clutches may be used.
