1,210,365. Treating a web with a liquid. MACHINEFABRIEK BRUGMAN N.V. 30 June, 1969 [4 July, 1968], No. 32976/69. Heading D1L. In the passage (fig. 1) of a web in zig-zag fashion over rollers 9 through one or more chambers (3) each followed by a pair of driven pressure rollers (4) the rollers 9 are mounted in carbon bearings 11 on shafts 10, at least some (one) of the shafts being driven at a web-conveying speed (assuming corresponding slip-free rotation of its roller) slightly greater than that of the pressure rollers so as to avoid tensile stress in the web during passage over the rollers. The web may be of textile, paper or plastics material. Treatment may be with liquid or steam.
