Abstract

1348673 Feeding webs MASCHINENFABRIK BENNINGER AG 28 July 1971 [31 July 1970] 35425/71 Heading B8R Webs B1, B2, e.g. of textile material, are fed in side-by-side relationship through treatment stages such as 1, 2, 3 by means of driven rollers 4, 5 positioned between the stages, the webs passing over vertically displaceable individual tensioning rollers 10, 11 which extend across the whole width of the apparatus and which are loaded by a system including respective pneumatic cylinders 15 and linkages 12, 13, 14 to impart a predetermined tension to the webs B1, B2 passing over the rollers. The linkage associated with roller 10 is also mechanically connected to a potentiometer 6 in the circuit of a motor (not shown) driving the rollers 4, 5 so that displacement of the roller 10 caused by stretching or contracting of the web B1 results in adjustment of the potentiometer 6 so that the speed of the driven rollers 4, 5 is altered in a sense to correct for the tension variations, any variations in the effective length of the web B 1 being taken up by movement of the roller 11. Each roller is associated with limit switches 24, 25 which operate to stop the feed or actuate a warning device should either web break or should the tension fall outside a predetermined range. The rollers 10 and 11 may be operatively associated so that movement of one effects the movement of the other (Fig. 2, not shown).
