Abstract

1,010,797. Splitting-machines. MASCHINENFABRIK MOENUS A.G. Aug. 9, 1962, No. 30665/62. Heading B4B. In a band knife splitting-machine in which the material is fed between a pressure roller 8 and a roller 2 composed of individual rings 5- cooperating with a rubber roller 4, the rings are driven from a bed roller 12 by means of individual conveyer belts 10. The belts are tensioned by means of stay bolts 16 provided with screw-threads 18 of opposite hand and having at their ends blocks provided with rollers 22 engaging grooves 3, 13 in the rollers 2, 12 respectively. Alternatively, the ends of the bolts may be in the form of ball or needle bearings. A deflector 28 is pivotable about a perforated tube 30 through which liquid is sprayed against the roller 4 to dissolve smudge and particles which are then removed by a blade 32. In a modification, the stay bolts are replaced by tensioning plates each of which is provided with one or more eccentric tensioning rollers, one or more guide rollers and with a window opening through which passes a bar which limits the upward movement of the tensioning plate.
