Abstract

809,544. Aerating turf. ROSE BROS. (GAINSBOROUGH) Ltd. Jan. 4, 1957 [Oct. 12, 1955], No. 29014/55. Class 6(1). A machine for aerating turf comprises a series of blades 33 axially mounted on a splined shaft, the blades being formed of thin material so as to be flexible in a lateral direction whilst having substantial rigidity in the direction of cutting. Each blade is formed with a pair of diametrically opposed cutting points 36. The shaft and blades are mounted in a frame 11 and are driven from a motor 16 by means of belt gearing 21, 22, which also drives a shaft 19. The shaft 19 drives rollers 12 by means of chain gearing 24. Clutches (not shown) are incorporated in the shaft 19 for controlling the blades and rollers 12. A roller 14 is mounted on adjustable legs 28 controlled by screws 29
