Class 59 [Also in Group VIII] In a comminuting machine comprising upper and lower series of cutter discs a, b for cutting into longitudinal strips plastic band materials 13 fed through a passage 11, and a cutter disposed at the discharge end of the passage for cutting the longitudinal strips, transversely into gran- Mess, the cutter discs a are mounted on a shaft 2 which is adjustable vertically relatively to a shaft 1 on which the cutter discs b are mounted, and the shafts 1, 2 are driven by means of toothed wheels 6, 7 mounted thereon which engage with interengaging gear wheels 8, 9. The discharge end of the passage 11 is flared at 12 to facilitate ejection of the longitudinal strips. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the shaft 2 is carried in bearings 3a which are vertically slidable in cheeks 3b and adjustable by means of manually-operable screws 4. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the bearings 3a carrying the shaft 2 are supported by arms 10 hinged on the shaft of the gear wheel 9. Specification 739,343 is referred to. ____
