[Also in Group XVII] A device for slitting a web longitudinally at spaced intervals in the formation of wrappers being fed to a wrapping apparatus (see Group XVII), includes a pair of rotating cutters 22 mounted below the line of travel of the web W and against which the web is depressed at intervals by rotating pressers 98. The web passes over plates 76, 80, the cutters being mounted between the plates and below their common horizontal surface. The pressers 98 have grooves 112 into which the cutters enter when slitting the web. The cutters are adjustable on their shaft 84, and extensions such as 130 may be bolted on to the pressers to enable them to cope with wider webs.
