851,341. Cigarette-making machines. KORBER, K. May 5, 1958 [June 14, 1957], No. 14277/58. Class 130 A rotary drum 2, on which groups G each comprising cigarettes flanking endwise a doublelength filter mouthpiece are rolled by an adjustably-spaced stationary surface 10 to wrap them in connector sheets B, has both a smooth portion 6, to which the sheets B are applied as a more slowly-moving web V sub-divided by cutter means 4, and portions having ribs 9 against which the cigarettes are held by suction ducts 11, 12 before and after rolling. The groups G are supplied by a drum 1 and are halved into filter tip cigarettes on a drum 3. Suction ducts retain the web V and sheets B and maintain the latter under tension during rolling. The portion 6 either is a shrunk-on hard metal ring or has hard metal counter-cutter elements. Springs or guides on the drum periphery may replace the ducts 12, and stops yieldingly pressed against the group ends may replace the ducts 11.
