Abstract

1,046,538. Cigarette-making machines. TABAKUND INDUSTRIEMASCHINEN DRESDEN VEB. Aug. 4, 1964, No. 31726/64. Heading A2C. Groups 4, 5, Fig. 1, each comprising a double length filter tip between two cigarette lengths, and having stuck thereto glued connector strips 6 are sucked from troughs 3 of a suction conveyer 1 into troughs 11 of a drum 21, the troughs having rolling surfaces 12 which on receipt of the group from the conveyer 1 are directed radially outwardly from the drum 21 and then pivoted so as to extend circumferentially of the drum, the connector strip being rolled around the groups between the surfaces 12 and an endless band 41 running in the same direction as, but more slowly than, the drum 21. The wrapped groups are taken off the drum 21 by a further conveyer 49 and sub-divided by a cutter 51. Suction is applied to the troughs 11 at appropriate times via ducts 32 and 38, (Fig. 3). The troughs 11 are pivoted by rollers 17 running in a stationary cam track 20 and connected to the troughs by rods 16. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 898,760.
