813,021. Cigarette-making machines. KÍRBER, K. May 8, 1957 [May 8, 1956], No. 14640/57. Class 130. Wear due to slip between a rotary suction roll and a cork or paper strip which is subdivided thereon by knife means into cigarette-mouthpiece connector strips is minimized by using a roll periphery 4 of sintered tungsten carbide and titanium carbide against which the knife means act and which is formed during sintering with circumferentially-spaced groups of suction ports 8 and, possibly, ducts 9. The member 4 is shrunk on to the roll body 2 or secured thereto by means 7.
