[Also in Group XVII] In a wrapping machine comprising a conveyer for feeding articles to be wrapped in succession into position beneath a wrapping-wheel, mechanism for feeding wrappers in succession into position beneath the wheel and an elevator for lifting each article, together with a wrapper, into the jaws of the wheel, the wrapper feed mechanism comprises intermittently-operating rollers for feeding a web of wrapping material from a reel, a knife for periodically severing a wrapper from the leading end of the web, a trip mechanism, controlled by the articles on the conveyer, for rendering the feed rollers and knife inoperative if an article is not present, a jockey pulley resting on a bight of the web between the feed rollers and reel and means controlled by the jockey pulley according to its level for intermittently feeding the web to the rollers, the feed from the reel commencing when the jockey pulley has ascended to a given level and terminating when, as the result of the feed, the jockey pulley has descended to a given level. The machine described is identical with that described in Specification 684,252. Specifications 567,196 and 622,593, [Group XVII], also are referred to.
